Investing: Tennis champ Sir Andy Murray
Sir Andy Murray has invested in three British firms via crowdfunding site Seedrs this year.
They are MacRebur, a pioneering Scottish start-up that makes roads out of waste plastic; VPAR, a golf technology platform; and Bijou Commerce, a mobile platform for leading retailers.
The tennis star said: ‘I was interested in MacRebur because I am impressed by their ambition to make a massive economic and environmental difference to road construction worldwide.
VPAR appealed because I enjoy golf and Bijou Commerce is a ground-breaking tech firm which will hopefully revolutionise retail.’
MacRebur, whose target was £590,000, raised £1.3 million in just over a week, with more than 1,000 investors.
VPAR has so far raised £1.15 million from almost 300 people. And Bijou Commerce has hit 80 per cent of its funding target, with £642,000 from investors.
