The decision by Toast Inc., a Boston-based restaurant services software company, to open an Omaha office is the latest validation of a regional approach to building and supporting the local technology sector.
The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the state, the City of Omaha and neighboring communities have invested time, effort and tax dollars into establishing Omaha’s bona fides. And the local business community has encouraged entrepreneurship and fostered a healthy business startup culture.
State and local governments have made the necessary investments in education and recreation that attract tech workers, and local universities and colleges have increased the flow of talented workers.
Together, these efforts have helped grow and attract a new set of innovative entrepreneurs — Hayneedle, PayPal and Hudl Inc., to name a few.
The efforts bode well for the region’s future. Welcome to the neighborhood, Toast.
