LUBBOCK — Midwestern State took on the big boys Friday with a trip to Lubbock to take on Big 12 contender Texas Tech in an exhibition match.
The Red Raiders, led by Wichitan Connor Curry at No. 1, predictably had the upper hand in a 7-0 victory. Curry had a good match, though, with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Vasudev Vijayaraman of MSU.
Curry and Jackson Cobb defeated Dillon Pineda/Angel Palacios of MSU 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Tech also won at No. 2 doubles to clinch that point but MSU’s Denney Norrie and Alex Martinez-Roca defeated Pyry Hyrkkonen/Matheus Leite of Tech 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Martinez-Roca also won a first set at No. 6 singles before falling in a super tiebreaker.
