Folks at Albany Technical College said they want to expand pathway options for students and on Monday they did just that.
President of Albany Technical College Dr. Anthony Parker signed an articulation agreement with Georgia Southwestern State University.
The agreement gives students who earn a degree at Albany Technical College the chance to qualify for the bachelor’s degree program at Georgia Southwestern State University in select programs.
Those programs are in business, criminal justice, education, information technology and nursing.
Both school presidents said they hope the agreement will help students to better achieve their goals.
“There’s always those students who achieve their objective and then decide it’s time for the next one. We want to make sure the work they put in doesn’t get lost from the transition of one institution to the next,” said Georgia Southwestern State University President Dr. Neal Weaver.
“We have smart people with potential and we want to educate as many of them around Southwest Georgia as we can so they’ll be more inclined to stay and contribute in Southwest Georgia,” explained Parker.
Georgia Southwestern State University is one of 10 schools Albany Tech has an agreement with.
Monday’s agreement will go into effect this fall.
